Day 7 in Las Vegas: Rock 'n' Roll Minigolf, BBQ, and Outlet Bargains!

After a whirlwind day 6 filled with rugby action and a late night, we decided Day 7 was all about taking it easy.  A slow morning and a lie in was definitely on the cards, allowing us to recharge our batteries before diving into the day's activities.

Inside the hotel was Kiss World and we had been booked in to play mini golf at midday.  This part of the hotel was surprisingly quiet, dimly lit, and initially gave off a "closed" vibe, but venturing further in, we discovered a collection of shops and, at the very end, the vibrant "Kiss World."

We arrived just as Kiss Mini Golf opened, giving us the advantage of being among the first to tackle the glow-in-the-dark, Kiss-themed course.  Even though the kids had no clue who Kiss was, they loved the neon lights and rock 'n' roll atmosphere.  The course has a great mix of easy and challenging holes, with guitars and drum sets creatively integrated as obstacles.  We cheered each other on, laughed at our less-than-perfect swings, and thoroughly enjoyed the fun, lighthearted competition.  The grand finale, a giant Kiss mouth, with the ball disappearing up a giant tongue!

After a round of rock-infused Mini Golf, we hopped into the car and headed towards Summerlin, a new territory for us about 30 minutes drive from the Las Vegas strip.  We were invited to try the highly acclaimed Wild Fig BBQ, and while we weren't quite sure what to expect, the word "BBQ" was enough to pique our interest.

Wild Fig BBQ is a true hidden gem for barbecue enthusiasts or meat lovers.  This spot delivers authentic, mouthwatering barbecue that's smoked on site, with generous portions and a down-to-earth vibe. We opted for a combo plate for the 4 of us to share which was exceptional.  It's primarily a take away spot but does have a few tables outside.  If you're seeking genuine, flavorful barbecue in Las Vegas, Wild Fig BBQ is definitely worth the trip.  Read our review here.

With our bellies full and our spirits high, we headed to the Las Vegas North Premium Outlets for some retail therapy.  The outlets were reminiscent of Cheshire Oaks back home, offering a wide array of brands at discounted prices. The boys were on a mission for new clothes and scored some great finds.  There were particularly good deals at North Face and Under Armour, while Nike and JD Sports were a bit disappointing, with prices similar to those at home.

Top Tip: Register for the VIP Shopper Club on the Las Vegas North Premium Outlets website for additional discounts at selected stores. We snagged additional discounts of up to 20% at stores like Ralph Lauren, The North Face and Under Armour thanks to this. Click here to become a VIP.

To combat Louie's shopping-induced boredom, we promised a treat for good behavior. He asked for a slush or ice cream and when we stumbled upon a stall selling frozen drinks made from fresh fruit, he chose a watermelon slush.  The shock came with the bill: $19!  A price tag which was a surprise as there were no prices on display but it put a huge smile on his face and he drank the lot despite the cold, windy weather.

The only store that i was really interested in visiting was the Coach store.  On my previous Vegas trip, I had snagged a Coach bag for a fraction of its UK retail price, and I was hoping to repeat the feat.  This time, I opted for a crossbody bag, a practical choice for everyday use.  Once again, the price was significantly lower than in the UK at around a third of the retail price.  I'm thrilled with my purchase, though I do have a slight regret for not grabbing another bag that i spotted on my way out.

All shopped out and having done more than we had planned for our chilled Sunday, we returned to the hotel.  The kids spotted a Smash Burger when we had visited Kiss World so we headed there for something to eat once we got back to the hotel.  The meals were a good price, much better than the other options in the hotels food court and the truffle burger was packed with flavour.

Back in the room, Charlie offered to babysit Louie while Mark and I ventured down to the Rio Hotel casino. Though initially hesitant, we knew that Charlie was old enough and responsible enough to babysit, one of the perks of having children with a large age gap.  We waited until Louie was fast asleep and gave Charlie strict instructions to ring us for anything.  Our room was located conveniently close to the lifts so it was easy for me to keep popping back to the room to check on them both.

Mark and I tried our luck at the slot machines and roulette, enjoying a few small wins and a satisfying $200 profit at the roulette table. The complimentary cocktails were surprisingly strong and delicious. After a delightful day and a successful casino outing, it was time to call it a night.
