Taking a Break from the Gym: Recharge and Reset - Weeks 4 & 5

Just wanted to give you a quick update on my fitness journey.  For the past two weeks, I've been on a bit of a gym hiatus.  We took a little mini break to London to watch our rugby team, Warrington Wolves. in the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, and with all the fun activities and exploring, there wasn't much time for my usual gym routine, although there was a lot of walking involved, which of course i tracked in the MyWellness app. 

On top of that, my kids have been super busy with their sports commitments and midweek matches.  Don't get me wrong, there's nothing i love more than cheering them on from the sidelines, but it's definitely thrown my own workout schedule out of the window these past couple of weeks.

MIssing My Gym Routine 

While I've been enjoying the break and spending quality time with the family, I can't deny that I'm starting to miss my gym routine.  There's something about that feeling of accomplishment after a good workout that I just can't replicate elsewhere.
I also know that the longer I stay away from the gym, the harder it will be to get back into the swing of things.  So, I'm planning to ease myself back into my workouts this week.

Getting Back on Track

I'm confident that I can get back on track with my fitness goals.  Here's what's motivating me:

  • The amazing feeling of a good workout.  There's no substitute for that rush of endorphins and the sense of accomplishment you get from pushing yourself.
  • The importance of setting a good example for my kids.  I want to show them that fitness is an important part of a healthy lifestyle.
  • The fact that I just feel better overall when I'm sticking to my workout routine.  I have more energy, I sleep better, and I just feel more confident in myself.

So, if you've been in a similar situation and have taken a break from your gym routine, don't worry! Just jump back in slowly and remind yourself of all the reasons why you're working out.  I'll be sure to share my progress with you all as I get back into the gym this week!
