Our Visit

We made a last minute decision to visit Farmer Ted's during the 2nd week of the May/June half term,  We expected it to be busy and wasn't sure if we would be able to pay on arrival but it wasn't a problem and we were advised that it surprisingly wasn't busy at all so would be a nice chilled day,

As you walk through the entrance, you enter an indoor area that houses the cafe, gift shop, cinema screen and many play areas and slides.  In the middle there are mini tractors that are £1 per ride.  Mark was desperate for a go so convinced Louie to join him, he was reluctant at first but absolutely loved it.

Our next stop was the animal barn, here there are push along and pedal tractors that the kids can play on and a whole host of animals to see including, horses, pigs, alpacas, sheep, goats and ponies.  Most of the animals came straight over to us and loved a little pet.  There are a number of activities at different times throughout the day (shown on the board) where the animals are brought out for a close up encounter, including alpaca time, pony grooming and a sheep show.  Louie loved the animal whilst they were in there pens but wasn't keen when close up but the animals were very calm and other children loved the interactions,

It was lunch time and we hadn't take a picnic so we headed in to the cafe to grab some lunch.  Inside the cafe there are a couple of soft play areas one for under 4's and one for older kids, there both a great size and it was so quiet that Mark and Louie had to try them both.  We noticed a specials board with salt and pepper chicken wraps on the menu so we both chose that, it was delicious and only £7.50 for a large wrap, fries, salad and coleslaw which we thought was a good price,

Next to the animal barn is the Mini Beast Centre, here there are all kinds of creepy crawlies and other animals like lizards, geckos, tortoise and snakes. There was also a close up with some of these animals we saw the lizards and tortoise up close and Louie loved watching the turtle stroll around and feeling his shell.

Beyond these areas, it is outdoor play area galore, with many climbing frames, a large wooden maze, climbing wall, jumping pillows, go karts and a toboggan run. There is so much to do and the adults can join in with it all too.

Tractor rides run at selected times throughout the day and take you on a lovely tour of the farmland for a close up view of the animals but beware there's also dinosaurs hiding out in the fields,  I believe these are part of something new to arrive this summer, all of the kids loved the tractor ride past these.

After our tractor ride we headed to the Coffee Post, which also sells, in my opinion the best ice cream, from Cheshire Ice Cream Farm,  We headed for some shade and enjoyed this before heading home.
